In this section, the important symphony orchestras that affected the development of classical music in Taiwan are introduced, and their brief introductions, documents, commentaries, as well as propaganda are displayed here.


國立台灣交響樂團

  創立於民國34年,為國內歷史最悠久之樂團,先後隸屬於台灣省警備司令部、台灣省藝術建設協會,台灣省教育廳及文化處等單位。88年7月,改隸行政院文化建設委員會,更名為「國立臺灣交響樂團」。

  近年來致力於多元的藝術取向,力求「精緻」並「和眾」,目前更積極規劃將樂團所在地建置為音樂文化園區,透過有系統的軟硬體建設打造成為國內唯一交響樂的文化、教育及休憩的場域,以提昇全民對音樂美學的素養。

  National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1945, as the oldest symphony orchestra in Taiwan. At the beginning, the Orchestra was once subordinate to Taiwan Garrison Headquarters, Taiwan Art Establishment Association, Department of Education, Taiwan and Office of Culture, etc.In July 1999, the Orchestra was subordinate to Council for Cultural Affairs and renamed as National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra.

  In the past years, National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra strived for diverse art directions in search of “delicacy” and “popularity.” At the moment, we are working on making the place of the Orchestra into a cultural park for the youth. With systemized software and hardware, we aim to build the place into a place of symphonies of culture, education and rest in order to enhance the quality of all people on music esthetics.

台北世紀交響樂團
  於民國57年由廖年賦所籌創,其巡迴演奏足跡遍及韓、日、美、英、德、法。69年,在廖年賦指揮下榮獲「一九八0年維也納青年交響樂團大賽」首獎。

  設有「台北世紀演奏家室內樂團」、「台北世紀合唱團」、「台北世紀青年管弦樂團」、「台北世紀青少年室內樂團」、「台北世紀少年管弦樂團」以及「台北世紀兒童弦樂團」。

  The Taipei Symphony Orchestra was founded by Professor Liao Nien-Fu in 1968. They had excellent achievements in Korea, Japan, U.S.A., U.K. ,Germany, France and ect.. In 1980, they won the first prize of "Vienna Youth Symphony Orchestra 1980".

  The Taipei Century Symphony Orchestra has "The Taipei Century Youth Symphony Orchestra", "The Taipei Century Teenagers Symphony Orchestra", and "The Taipei Century Children Strings Ensemble".

■ 廖年賦
  民國21年生, 57年創辦台北世紀交響樂團。曾任台灣省交響樂團(現為國立臺灣交響樂團)演奏部主任、國立台灣藝術專科學校(現為國立台灣藝術大學)音樂科主任、聯合實驗管弦樂團(現為國家音樂廳交響樂團)駐團副團長。目前擔任財團法人世紀音樂基金會董事長、台北世紀交響樂團音樂總監。

Nien-Fu Liao
  Nien-Fu Liao, born in 1932, founded the Taipei Century Symphony Orchestra in 1968. Mr. Liao was the Chairman of Performance at the Taiwan Province Symphony Orchestra (now National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra), the Chairman of the Music Department at the National Taiwan Academy of Arts (now National Taiwan University of Arts), and the Associated Director of United Symphony Orchestra (now National Symphony Orchestra). He is currently the President of Taipei Century Foundation and the Musical Director of Taipei Century Symphony Orchestra.
臺北市立交響樂團
  成立於民國58年,原隸屬於臺北市政府教育局,至88年改隸屬臺北市文化局,歷任團長為鄧昌國、陳暾初、陳秋盛。94年8月起聘匈牙利籍指揮家李格悌(A. Ligeti)擔任音樂總監。

  68年籌辦台北市「音樂季」,首開國內大型音樂季之先河,歷年應邀來訪參與的國外樂團,包括:英國皇家愛樂管弦樂團、以色列愛樂交響樂團、皇家大會廳管弦樂團、邦貝格交響樂團、俄羅斯愛樂交響樂團、奧斯陸愛樂交響樂團、聖彼得堡愛樂交響樂團、法國廣播交響樂團、柏林廣播交響樂團等。近年並致力於海峽兩岸之文化交流工作。

Taipei Symphony Orchestra

  Founded in 1969, the Taipei Symphony Orchestra originally came under the auspices of the Department of Education of Taipei City Government, and then of the Department of Cultural Affairs in 1999. The first director and chairman was Chang-Kuo Teng. In August 2005, Hungarian conductor A. Ligeti was signed as the Musical Director.

  In 1979 the Taipei Symphony Orchestra programmed the Taipei Music Festival, a pioneer in early large-scale music festivals in Taiwan. Over the decades, there have been many foreign orchestras invited, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Hall Orchestra, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Russian Philharmonia Symphony Orchestra of Moscow, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin. Also, the TSO has been making efforts in cultural exchanges with China for years.
高雄市交響樂團
  成立於70年,由黃孝棪擔任團長,鄭昭明擔任指揮,先後更名為「高雄市交響樂團」、「高雄市實驗交響樂團」。82年由蕭邦享出任指揮,88年由陳樹熙接任團長。

  89年高雄市音樂館落成,始有自屬的演練場地,正名為「高雄市交響樂團」,每年除有近20場的定期音樂會,並舉辦社區音樂會、國小迷你音樂會,廣受高雄市民的認同與喜愛。

  90年樂團正式成立「財團法人高雄市交響樂團文化藝術教育基金會」,為台灣史上第一個以基金會機制輔助樂團營運管理的官辦民營表演藝術團體。

Kaohsiung City Symphony Orchestra

  In 1980,Mei-Sheng Chen, the chief of Kaohsiung's Bureau of Education, in order to enrich the cultural and musical life of the citizens of Kaohsiung, invited Hsiao-Yen Huang, the principal of the Kaohsiung Municipal Chung-Cheng Senior Industrial Vocational High School, to establish the Kaohsiung City Orchestra. Principal Huang employed Jau-Min Jeng to act as the conductor of this orchestra.

  In 2000 the Kaohsiung Concert Hall, the home of the Kaohsiung City Symphony Orchestra, was established. There are about twenty regular concerts held in the Hall every year, besides community recitals and mini-recitals in elementary schools, which people in Kaohsiung enjoy very much.

  In 2001 the Kaohsiung City Symphony Orchestra founded the Foundation of Orchestra, Culture, Art, and Education, and became the first performing group in Taiwan supported altogether by the foundation, government, and local enterprises.
台北愛樂室內及管弦樂團
  74年由民間創設、樂友支持、企業贊助加上政府部分支援,所創立的台北愛樂室內及管弦樂團。由最初的小型室內樂團,擴大至今天的「室內」、「管弦」與「大眾」三個樂團,賴文福擔任團長,俞冰清為行政總監。
  
  其演奏水準主要奠基於已故音樂總監亨利•梅哲精湛的音樂素養,他以嚴格而獨到的訓練方式淬煉出團員們細膩完美的音樂性。
92年,俄羅斯指揮家亞歷山大•魯丁接任音樂總監。曾受邀至加拿大、美國、奧地利、法國、比利時、瑞典、芬蘭、德國、捷克、愛沙尼亞、俄羅斯、波蘭、匈牙利等國家巡演。

Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra

  Founded by non-governmental circles in 1985, sponsored mainly by enterprises, and supported by music lovers, the Taipei Sinfonietta and Philharmonic Orchestra has been expanded, from a chamber orchestra, into three groups: chamber orchestra, symphony orchestra, and popular orchestra. The current chairman is Wen-Fu Lai and the director of administration is Pin-Ching Yu.

  For the 2003–2005 seasons, the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra appointed the seasoned Russian conductor Alexander Rudin as its chief conductor. The TPO has consequently since made four European concert tours, two of which were to Russia in June 2004, at the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall for the White Nights Festival, followed by a performance in Moscow at the new Moscow Performing Arts Center with Alexander Rudin, who is also an acclaimed Russian violoncellist.
國家交響樂團
  創立於1986年,前身為「聯合實驗管絃樂團」,1994年改名為「國家音樂廳交響樂團」,歷任指揮包括艾科卡、史奈德、許常惠、張大勝、林望傑等人。

  2001年7月,由青年指揮家簡文彬出任音樂總監, 2005年8月,併入國立中正文化中心,正式定名為「國家交響樂團」。

  簡文彬上任以來,先後推出跨樂季定期系列,並委託國人作曲家創作,充實樂團曲目。2002年開始以跨領域合作概念推出「NSO歌劇」系列及「永遠的童話」系列,並與如果兒童劇團、幾米工作室等團體合作演出,顯示其演出能量與多元風格。

  曾合作過的國際知名音樂家無數,包括指揮家馬捷爾、呂紹嘉、巴夏、林克昌,鋼琴家波哥雷里奇等。

National Symphony Orchestra (NSO)

  The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), formerly known as the Experimental Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1986 by the Ministry of Education. On August 1, 2005, the orchestra became an artistic affiliate of the National Chiang Kai-Shek Cultural Center (National Theater and Concert Hall).

  In July 2001, Wen-Pin Chien was appointed the orchestra’s Music Director. Under Chien’s leadership, NSO expanded its ability and possibility to seek a more intensive dialogue with society. To this end, subscription series have been established. With commission and premier works, the NSO also seeks to promote music of Taiwanese composers as one of the orchestra’s foremost mission.

  NSO has presented more than 1000 performances and has cooperated with hundreds of internationally acclaimed musicians including conductors Lorin Maazel, Rudolf Barshai, Robert Spano, Shao-Chia Lu, Kek-Tjiang Lim, and many more.
台北市民交響樂團
  台北市民交響樂團是由前身的醫聲室內樂團在民國88年擴編而成。醫聲室內樂團從民國80年開始活動,定期在國家音樂廳推出慈善音樂會,成員從十幾個醫師組成的室內樂團逐年擴大編制,到目前的交響樂團穩定成員約有70人。團員有五分之一是專業音樂的工作者,其他為具有豐富演出經驗的愛樂者。

  90年前往法國的巴黎與諾曼地盧昂,與當地醫界交流,並分別為法國『希望之鏈』國際醫療援助,以及盧昂『生命與希望』兒童癌症基金會宣導及募款演出。

  近10年來在國家音樂廳每年推出4至6場的定期演出,合作的指揮包括有:王立德、陳樹熙、王戰、黃維明、Mark Graveson、黃智惠、林天吉等。

  In 1991, a group of physicians and health care professionals, talented and dedicated, began the "Physicians' Chamber Orchestra of Taiwan ". Since then, they have given more than one hundred concerts around the island, including
regular performances in the Taipei National Concert Hall. In 1999 this chamber orchestra expanded to form the Taipei Civic Symphony Orchestra. In their 2001 French concert tour, the proceeds benefited the 'Vie et
Espoir' association, a children cancer fundation. Each year, the TCSO programs four to six regular concerts at the National
Concert Hall. The conductors who used to collaborate with the TCSO include Leader Wang, Shu-Si Chen, Chan Wang, Wei-Ming Hwang, Mark Graveson,
Chih-Huei Huang, and Tien-Chi Ling.
樂興之時管絃樂團
87年2月由江靖波創立,團名取「當音樂興起之時」之意。

目前已發展出「樂興之時管絃樂團」、「樂興青年管絃樂團」、「樂興圓桌武士」、「樂興之時女聲合唱團」、「音樂理想國」等附屬團體。並為文建會重點扶植的優良演藝團體,其演出實況錄音為美國茱莉亞音樂院教授選為指定教材,現場錄音也在丹麥、瑞典、挪威等地之古典音樂電台全程播出。

Founded by Po-Po Chiang in February 1998, Philharmonia Moments Musicaux literarily means “when the music rises.”
The Philharmonia Moments Musicaux has developed into several groups: Philharmonia Moments Musicaux, Youth Orchestra Moments Musicaux, Moment Musical Camelot Players, A Capella Philharmonia Moments Musicaux, and Music Uropia. They are selected by the Council of Cultural Affairs as the outstanding groups in Taiwan; also, their recordings are used by the Julliard School in New York as teaching materials, and are broadcast on the classical music radio stations in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.
■ 江靖波
59年生於台北市,曾二度獲得台灣區音樂比賽小提琴優等第一名。合作團體包括青年音樂家基金會管弦樂團、十方樂集、台北獨奏家室內樂團、春秋樂集、台北演奏家聯盟管弦樂團、高雄市交響樂團、國立台灣交響樂團、臺北市立交響樂團等。

■ Po-Po Chiang
Born in Taipei in 1970, Po-Po Chiang has won two First Prizes of Violin Performance at the Taiwan Music Competition, and numerous competitions in Taiwan and the United States. Mr. Chiang has conducted several groups, such as the Young Musicians Foundation Orchestra, Forum Music, Taipei Soloists Chamber Orchestra, Spring-Fall Contemporary Music at Chew’s Cultural Foundation, Taipei Performer’s Union Orchestra, Kaohsiung City Symphony Orchestra, National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, and Taipei Symphony Orchestra.
長榮交響樂團
  90年4月,由財團法人張榮發基金會邀集多位華人音樂家及藝術顧問,合力促成20人編制的長榮樂團,91年擴編為70人,其成立宗旨為全方位培養台灣具潛力的優質音樂人才。由林克昌擔任樂團第一任音樂總監及首席指揮,93年7月由曾獲「長榮音樂助學金」赴美留學,任美國俄亥俄州Akron交響樂團音樂總監王雅蕙擔任音樂總監兼首席指揮,96年1月正式聘請曾任慕尼黑室內獨奏樂團指揮的葛諾•舒馬富斯擔任音樂總監及首席指揮。

  除演出古典經典名曲外,並致力於台灣民謠古典化,希望將台灣本土音樂以古典曲式呈現,將台灣音樂之美推向全世界。

Evergreen Symphony Orchestra
  When the Evergreen Group established the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation in 1985, the promotion of the arts and culture was on its work agenda, in addition to its ongoing contributions to medical aid charities and education scholarships. Between 1986 and 1997, the Group had also set up a music scholarship fund, which sponsored 28 of Taiwan’s finest music students chosen to study at major music academies in the United States. Evergreen's aim was to cultivate a new generation of outstanding musical talent. January 2007 marks yet another chapter for the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra with the official appointment of Gernot Schmalfuss as music director and chief conductor.
Furthermore, it presents local Taiwanese folk songs and ballads in the form of symphonic music, introducing the beauty of Taiwanese music to the world.
